I have always been interested in technology and how it can change our lives and habits. Indeed, thanks to the advances in this field, more and more people are using the digital banking side of their banks, as well as neo banks that don’t even have a physical presence. It is also the case with cryptocurrencies, that not only facilitate cross-border transactions, but also answer a need of more control over its own finances for millions of people. But, I am part of a generation that grew up with the issues of climate change that we are seeing the effects (more hurricanes, wildfires, extreme weathers in summer as well in winter). And these technologies are energy-intensive to maintain and function.

However, I do believe that cryptocurrencies will be a big part of people’s life  in the future and finding sustainable solutions that will make cryptocurrencies more climate-friendly will be essential for the next 40 to 50 years.

The Swiss Sustainability Initiative is a platform with sustainability at its core that will help engage a dialogue or publish some ideas on the topic.
